Now With 100% More Background!

Seriously, backgrounds are the bane of my existence - many other artists too, apparently. So I've devised a technique with the help of Photoshop that produces some pretty cool urban backgrounds, even makes it look like hand-drawn comic art as well. Here are some example pics that would otherwise would have taken hours to design, draw, crop, and color.

I. Part of South Street in Philadelphia.

II. Daylight in Philadelphia.

III. Street corner at night. This would be great for a noir comic scene.

IV. And finally, the trickiest part: getting a hand drawn character into the background. What makes this difficult is you have to match sizing, perspective, color palette, and the ethereal notion of "mood". This is my first attempt at the job, and all things considered I think it's not too bad.

And just in case you didn't notice, the man in the middle of the street is "Arens" from the previous post, tarted up with color, etc.
